Deleting Your Account & Data

Overview

Tootly lets you permanently delete your account and all associated personal data at any time, directly from within the app. Once the deletion window closes, the action cannot be undone.

How to Delete Your Account

Open the Tootly app and tap the Account tab (bottom navigation).
Tap Profile.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
Read and check each acknowledgement on the confirmation screen.
Tap Continue to confirm deletion.
Type DELETE in the confirmation field and tap the confirm button.
Your account is immediately placed in a 7-day recovery window. You will be signed out automatically.

To cancel within 7 days: Sign back in to Tootly. You will be offered the option to cancel the pending deletion. After 7 days, deletion cannot be reversed.

What Gets Deleted

When the 7-day window expires, the following data is permanently and irrecoverably removed from Tootly's systems:

Profile information — your display name, email address, avatar, and account preferences
Career content — all timeline events, work history, roles, and education entries
Capabilities and skills — all capability records and skill entries
Generated documents and AI reports — all saved document snapshots (resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn summaries, and similar) and saved analysis reports (AI Exposure, Benchmark, Adjacency Map, Role Switch Roadmap, and similar)
Credit balance — any remaining credit balance in your wallet
Salary data — any salary information submitted through the salary contribution feature
Notification tokens — device push notification registrations
Authentication identities — linked login methods (Apple, Google, Facebook/Meta, and email)

What May Be Retained, and Why

Financial transaction records

Records of credit purchases, subscription events, and credit transaction history are retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance (US IRS recordkeeping requirements). During this period, your account is anonymized — your name, email address, and avatar are removed and you cannot sign in — but transaction records are retained linked to an anonymous identifier. After 7 years, these records are permanently deleted.

You cannot be identified from the retained records — all personal identifiers are removed at deletion time.
The retained records exist solely to satisfy financial reporting obligations.
No career content, profile information, or AI-generated documents are included in what is retained.

App Store subscription: Deleting your Tootly account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. To avoid future charges, cancel your subscription separately via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions before or after deleting your account. Tootly cannot cancel an App Store subscription on your behalf.

Timeline

When you confirm deletion:

Immediately Your account is deactivated. You are signed out. No new content can be created or accessed.
Within 7 days You may sign back in to cancel the deletion.
At 7 days All personal data and career content listed above is permanently purged from Tootly's servers. This process completes within 30 days of your request.
After 7 years Anonymized financial transaction records are permanently deleted.

Request Deletion Without App Access

If you cannot access your account (for example, if you have lost access to your sign-in credentials), you can request deletion by email.

Include: The email address associated with your Tootly account and, if available, your display name.

We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days.
